Wabash County REMC Holds 75th Annual Meeting Nearly 800 people attended the 75th Annual Meeting, held March 28, 2011 in the Honeywell Ford Theater. In his speech to the members, Board President Max Highley highlighted the successes of 2010, while paying tribute to REMC’s 75 year history. Mr. Highley said, “Even after 75 years, we still hold the same commitment of providing reliable service at a reasonable rate, making sure that we do whatever we can to assure that our membership will always get the best service.” Rob Pearson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), focused on the future of the cooperative in his CEO’s report and stated, “The rural electrics have always been driven by the pioneer spirit. In 1936, that pioneer spirit motivated neighbors to come together to bring power to the countryside. Today, that same pioneer spirit is alive in the people that are bringing you the technology of the future.” During the business meeting, the membership elected two directors to serve three-year terms on the Board of Directors. Claude Markstahler was elected to represent district one, and Steven Byerly was elected to represent district six.
Throughout the meeting drawings for cash awards were conducted. The $200 grand prize winner was Kevin Cordes. The evening’s Big Band Era entertainment was provided by the Tom Daugherty Orchestra. Wabash County REMC Board of Director officers for the coming year will be: Steven Byerly, President; D’Ann Stouffer, Vice President; Gene Bowman, Secretary, and Max Highley, Asst. Secretary. |
