Paying your Bill
We accept checks, cash or money orders. We now accept Master Card or Visa. You may bring your payment into our office, mail or drop-off in our night deposit box.

If your payment is not in our office by the due date, you will be assessed a penalty.
If your payment is delinquent and not paid prior to the delinquent due date, you will be disconnected and further charges will be assessed to you. Before you will be reconnected, these fees must be paid.

Meter Reading
Wabash County REMC uses an automated meter reading technology knows as “The Turtle System”, designed by Hunt Technologies. This AMR sends daily meter readings to our office computer. On a monthly basis the bills are calculated using that meter reading information.

Because the meter is talking daily to our office we are able to receive additional information such as blinks, power outages and voltage fluctuations.

Billing Cycles

We have 4 Billing cycles:

Cycle 1 which covers the Northern part of our area.
Bills in this cycle are due on the 10th of each month.
Cycle 2 which covers the Central part of our area.
Bills in this cycle are due on the 19th of each month.
Cycle 3 which covers the Southern part of our area.
Bills in this cycle are due on the 28th of each month.
Cycle 4 which is mainly large power accounts.
Bills in this cycle are due on the 15th of each month.

Automatic Bill Payment Plan
The automatic bill payment plan is a convenient payment method that is offered to help make your life a little easier. It’s the most convenient, dependable, and least expensive way to pay your monthly bill.

What is the Automatic Bill Payment Plan?
It is a method of payment by which Wabash County REMC automatically draws money from your bank account to pay your monthly electric bill. Once you have signed up for the plan, you will receive your statement each month with “BANK DRAFT DO NOT PAY” across it. The bank drafts to draw funds from your bank account will be processed around 3 days prior to the due date,

How do You Enroll?
You simply print the authorization form (download pdf). Please include all the information requested and be sure to attach a voided check or a deposit slip. It will become effective when you see the “BANK DRAFT DO NOT PAY” message printed on your billing statement.

If you have any more questions about the automatic bill payment plan, please contact our office.

Budget Billing
To even out the peaks and valleys of your electric bill, Wabash County REMC offers two different budget billing plans. First we offer the Fixed-Payment plan, where we bill you an equal amount each month.  The payment is based on the average of your past kWh usage. For eleven months you pay this fixed amount. The twelfth month is the settlement month, when any balance owed will be billed. That’s also the month the budget payment will be adjusted, to more accurately reflect your actual usage.

When one year is hotter or colder than normal or when other factors change the kilowatt hour usage in your home, the Fixed-Payment budget plan could fall behind the actual usage, which could cause a higher than expected settlement month bill.

If you prefer not to have a 12-month settlement month, the REMC offers a Viable-Payment budget billing plan. It’s called variable, because it floats up and down slightly to compensate for different climate conditions from year-to-year. It uses the past 11 month’s kilowatt hour usage, plus the current month usage, and issues a bill based on the average of this total. With the ability to vary the billed amount slightly, there is no “settlement month”.

The choice is yours: Fixed-Payment or Variable-Payment Budget Billing. For more information, call our office.

Call Before You Dig
If you are planning to do any digging around your home or business, Indiana state law requires that you contact the Indiana Underground Plant Protection Service at 800-382-5544 at least two working days before you dig.

Indiana Underground Plant Protection Service (IUPPS), is a free, non-profit, statewide utility notification service that provides a communication link between IUPPS members and contractors, homeowners, or anyone else engaged in excavating activities.

This service is in place to help you avoid serious injury and avoid financial liabilities associated with damaged underground utility lines.

If you plan to dig within two feet of a marked utility line, state law requires that you expose the utility line only by the use of hand excavation, air-cutting, or vacuum excavation.

Indiana state law (IC8-1-26) requires that anyone engaged in excavating using mechanized equipment must call at least 2 full working days prior to the start of their project. IUPPS offers a one-point contact to reach member utilities to notify them of your proposed excavation.

When you call, be ready to provide the following information:

The county that excavation will take place

The township where the excavation will take place

The address of the excavation site

The nearest cross street

A second cross street

What city or town the excavation site is in or near

Where on the property the excavation will take place

IUPPS also offers on-line services. You can find their Web site at: http://www.iupps.org
