Phishing Email Targets Utility Customers

February 17, 2014
Wabash County REMC has been made aware of a scam/phishing email that is currently targeting utility customers across the country.  The scam sends an email to the customer stating that your energy bill is now available for viewing.  When you click to view the bill, it will redirect you to a site to capture username, password, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, etc.  Please be aware this is NOT from Wabash County REMC.  Below is an example of the email.  There is no name or logo identifying where the email originated.  Wabash County REMC is diligent in identifying ourselves when contacting members whether it is via email, phone, or in-person.  If you receive anything suspicious, please contact our office at 260-563-2146 or toll-free 800-563-2146.
